Karriem Shakoor is the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Underwriters Laboratories, LLC. At UL, he holds global responsibility for strategy, development and management of the company’s technology and information assets including enterprise architecture; data/analytics, systems development and technology operations. Mr. Shakoor has more than 18 years of IT management experience in a variety of industries. Before joining UL, he was VP, Information Technology for Ameriprise Financial with responsibilities for IT service delivery for their property & casualty insurance division. Before joining Ameriprise, he was CTO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of MI. Mr. Shakoor has held positions of increasing responsibilities at Electronic Data Systems, Sprint E-Solutions, and Arvin Meritor.
Mr. Shakoor holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Information Technology and a Master of Business Administration from WalshCollege in Troy, MI. He serves on the board of Chicago United and is a member of the National Black MBA Association, Information Technology Senior Management Forum (ITSMF), Black Data Processors of America, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. Mr. Shakoor was recognized in 2009 as a Crain’s Detroit 40-Under-40 leader, in 2010 as a Michigan Chronicle FP30 rising leader in Detroit, and in 2012 as a Top100 Under 50 emerging leader by DiversityMBA Inc.
