Techbridge students cite the lasting impact of interactions with role models and field trips to role models' work sites on their academic and career choices. Through our many years of experience working with role models, we have designed effective strategies for making role models' outreach and field trips a success.
Role models tell their personal stories with passion and honesty, helping girls see science, technology, and engineering in a new light. They also talk to girls about more immediate matters like summer internships, financial aid, and college preparatory programs. This information is especially important for Techbridge girls, as many will be the first members of their family to attend college.
Want to get involved in Techbridge programs?
Host a field trip at your company:
We want our girls to get a first-hand look at what your company does and what types of people work there. Girls may not have thought about who is behind the products and services they and their families use every day, and we want to show them how working in science and technology can have a positive impact on the world.
Our girls are curious to learn about what types of career options there are at your company, and to meet women in these careers. Our partners make these visits hands-on and interactive by giving tours, leading active workshops, and providing opportunities for role models and girls to interact.
Techbridge will support you every step of the way in planning a successful event, from providing transportation and adult chaperones, to giving feedback for possible workshops, to sharing ideas on how to make a tour as girl-friendly as possible.

Host a field trip at your college or university:
College role models are uniquely placed to give girls advice on their next steps in life. Girls are naturally interested in university life, and trips to local colleges can show them the exciting world that awaits them.
Trips to universities can involve visits to engineering and science labs, and the most impactful ones involve hands-on activities or demonstrations. A tour of campus and lunch with students are always highlights.
Techbridge will support you every step of the way to planning a successful event, from providing transportation and adult chaperones, to giving advice and feedback for possible workshops or activities, to sharing ideas on how to make a tour as girl-friendly as possible.

Visit an after-school program as a role model:
We invite role models into our programs to talk to girls about their job and lead a fun, hands-on activity related to their career. We have an extensive curriculum library for you to choose from, or you can come up with a project on your own. Techbridge will support you with training before your visit, and we provide all the materials and supplies for the class. You can come on your own or bring a colleague along with you.
Our programs are in the East Bay and South Bay, serve 5th grade, middle school, and high school; and run from approximately 3 PM-5 PM. Visits are usually a one-time commitment, but we welcome role models who want to come back throughout the year.

Help with curriculum:
Do you have an idea for a fun, hands-on project that illustrates what you do every day? At Techbridge, we emphasize hands-on projects with a real-world application. We work to develop curriculum that keeps girls engaged, shows them what it is like to be an engineer, computer programmer, or scientist, and has a clear connection to their lives.
