Smiles abound in the new Techbridge program at Ocala Middle School! The girls started the year designing structurally sound domes using nothing but gumdrops and toothpicks. Next they tested their myth-busting skills as they worked to unravel the mysteries behind skewering a balloon and removing a tablecloth in one quick motion. Then they moved on to Electrical Engineering. They explored circuitry concepts using Snap Circuits, unraveled the mystery behind a tilt switch lantern, and practiced their soldering skills as they designed and built their own electric game boards. They met members of the Women @ Information Networking Institute (WINI) from Carnegie Mellon University who introduced them to computer engineering concepts and careers. The girls traveled to EMC to get an inside look at how the company specializes in digital data storage and management.
